Cape May December Christmas Events 2012- Free Concert Dec 7th at the Convention Hall Angelus Chorus

Cape May December Christmas Events 2012

Looking for something to do in Cape May this week end in December, two free concerts are coming up in Cape May.  The Angelus Chorus will perform a free concert at the new Convention Hall on Beach Avenue 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.  December 8 Packaged Goods Orchestra - Free Concert, 7:30 pm, Cape May Convention Hall

Angelus Chorus began in November 1964 with a small group of local residents volunteering to sing Christmas carols for residents in the Angelus Convalescent Home in Wildwood. After the holidays, the group organized and began serious rehearsals and became known as The Angelus Chorus.  Over the years, they continued to practice and perform in the local communities.  Any money received went back to the convalescent home.  After the Angelus Convalescent Home closed, the chorus continued to perform and benefits were given to various community organizations such as the Volunteers in Medicine, Project Lifesaver - Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, Holy Redeemer Jersey Shore Food Pantry, and Family Promise of Cape May County.

Since 2006, the director has been Dr. Richard Stanislaw, the president of the Ocean City Tabernacle.  The accompanist is Ruth Fritsch, organist and choir director of the Cape Island Baptist Church, and is only the second accompanist in the chorus' 48 years.

The Angelus Chorus rehearses on Monday evenings during the school year at the Middle Township High School from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Their concerts are given during April, May, and December.  Those interested in joining the chorus or learning more may call 898-0324 for more information.
