So What’s to Know About the Cape May Food & Wine Celebration?

In the last few years, the Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival has made itself into arguably the most talked-about foodie celebration in South Jersey. But, in a quieter way, the Cape May Food & Wine Celebration has become quite the week plus food extravaganza. There’s lots here to chew on (heh heh…yeah, I know)…
It’s nine days long! Nine blessed days of food and wine, with a number of events taking place each day. Sept 15 - Sept 23 Many of the old favorites are back. Lots of opportunities to tour local wineries, such as Cape May Winery, Hawk Haven and Natali Vineyards. The Chefs’ Dine Around dinners give your a chance to try a few of Cape May’s finest eateries in one evening. The Lobster House is once again offering Wharf Tours to show the workings of the port of Cape May. And there will be a series of Gourmet Lunches all through the celebration. How about a clambake? Sure! New for this year, Hawk Haven Winery in Rio Grande will be hosting a clambake. And yes, I am sure that they will be serving their wine along with the clams and lobster. Beer is making its presence felt more and more. Well, you got Cape May Brewery there…why not invite them to the party? So for this year, you got a brewery tour along with a wine tour, a beer and cheese tasting and a chefs’ dine around paired with the brewers of Cape May Brewing. Back again this year is Gary Monterosso’s Beer Tasting Dinner. Chef Joseph Poon and Lorraine Kiefer will be giving special lectures and demonstrations. Chef Joseph will be giving you culinary tips and techniques, while Lorraine will be all about the herbs. The Cape May Food & Wine Celebration starts September 15 and runs through September 23.
