Governor Christie Approves Cape May County Request to Lift Travel Ban in Select Barrier Island Communities

Trenton, NJ – Governor Chris Christie today announced that he has granted the Cape May County government’s request to rescind the mandatory evacuation order for the barrier island communities of Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, North Wildwood, West Wildwood, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle City, and Ocean City.
Mandatory evacuations ordered by the Governor in other areas of the state continue to remain in effect until conditions have been determined to allow for the lifting of travel restrictions and the safe and orderly return of residents.
Mandatory evacuations have been lifted in the following municipalities:
ATLANTIC COUNTY:
Brigantine Beach
Margate City
Longport Borough
CAPE MAY COUNTY:
Wildwood
Wildwood Crest
North Wildwood
West Wildwood
Avalon
Stone Harbor
Sea Isle City
Ocean City
